Air Travel

Some regional airlines serve the local airport at Rostock-Laage, but most large airlines serve the airports in Hamburg and Berlin.

From the airport Rostock-Laage shuttle busses go to the central bus station next to the railway station. At the Rostock main railway station there will be local trains (S-Bahn) to Rostock-Warnemünde running every 15 min at day time with a break between 0:00 and 4:00 a.m.


Ferry Travel

Ferries go from Helsinki (Finland), Trelleborg (Sweden) and Gedser (Denmark). For further information visit the Homepage of the Scandlines Deutschland GmbH.


Transportation
The congress center in Rostock-Warnemünde is 20 km far from the local airport in Rostock-Laage. Transfers will be provided by Taxi or a local bus service according to the time of arrivals and departures. All the taxis are creme-colored with a sign written "Taxi" on their roof. The taxis have a taximeter system.

From the Airports in Berlin and Hamburg bus or taxi service to the main train stations in these cities will be provided.

From Hamburg: Most trains from Hamburg go directly (without changing) to Rostock. Travelling time is about 2H 15min and the costs are about € 31.

From Berlin: Leaving from Berlin-Lichtenberg or Berlin-Zoologischer Garten trains go directly to Rostock. Traveling time is about 2h 45min and tickets cost € 30-35.



Visa
All participants require a valid passport and some may require a visa for visiting Germany. Please contact your nearest German Embassy / Consulate for this purpose.


Banking and Currency Exchange
The currency unit is “EURO” in Germany. Foreign currency can be exchanged on arrival at the airports or at the main train stations in Berlin and Hamburg. Most of the banks in Germany are open from 10:00 am to 16:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.


Credit Cards

Most of the hotels, restaurants and shops accept major international credit cards.


Safety and Security

As all german cities Rostock is a safe city. However, do not leave your bags or other personal belongings unattended at any time.

Electricity Supply
The electric current is 220 volts / 50 Hz AC with European type connections.

Badges
Wearing badges are mandatory in order to have an access to the scientific sessions, exhibition and social events.

Handicapped
If special arrangements are required for an individual with a disability please contact the congress secretariat but as the congress center is a major hotel there are special arrangements for individuals with a disability.

Climate
The climate in general is mild with temperatures around 15 – 20°C.
